While I have no blurry screen captures to post as proof, I thought I'd mention that I attended last night's taping of The Daily Show. I must say, it was a pretty fantastic episode. I recommend it -- John Oliver's trip to the St. Patty's Day Parade is the highlight.
While the new season of Flight of the Conchords hasn't been as strong in the songwriting department, it certainly has made a big visual leap. None bigger than this past Sunday's episode, which was directed by Michel Gondry. On top of that, this Sunday's episode was entirely dedicated to one of my favorite running gags -- the boys' deep dislike and distrust of Australians. It was a winner.
I've spent the last few weeks watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Why did I wait so long to watch a show set in my hometown? Well, like all things Philadelphia, I suppose I was just unsure it could be any good.
The show is pretty funny, though. Even Danny DeVito, who seemed totally miscast at first, seems to have found his place on the show (for the record, I'm a few episodes into the third season). Still, the series belongs to Dennis, Dee, Mac and Charlie. The show has an incredibly funny darkness that I can't help but enjoy -- at moments, it reminds me of the Seinfeld crew, except this show certainly doesn't think as highly of its characters.
The first episode of the new Flight of the Conchords season was disappointing, compared to their brilliant first season. Specifically, the songs were pretty weak. But it's almost all worth it for the last 30 seconds of "Angels," which I've embedded above.
Here's my favorite segment from A Colbert Christmas. It's seemingly a drag at first, but the payoff (you'll know it when you see it) makes it all worthwhile.
